Ann Storkamp

Our mom Ann Storkamp was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) on July 13th 2018 .  About 2-3 years ago family and friends started noticing changes with walking and speech .  Last year Ann went to the eye doctor due  to her vision ,  she was no longer able to move her eyes up and down,  she was only able to keep them straight ahead .  Ann went to the Neurologist and she was diagnosed  with PSP .  Today Ann is still the great loving women she has always been ,  her mind is still all there , but her body is failing her .  She is unable to walk independently and her eyes are so sensitive that she wears sunglasses even while in the house.  Communication is also a struggle ,  she is still able to communicate ,  but slower and with short sentences.       Progressive Supranuclear Palsy is a sporadic and fast progressing disease ,  they do not know the cause of it . PSP has a life expectancy of 3-5 years . It is a disorder of the brain that causes issues with balance , walking and having normal eye movement . Speech and difficulty swallowing as symptoms worsen  , pneumonia is usually the cause of death .  In addition to physical impairment ,  patients also tend to experience cognitive impairment and personality changes .  There is no cure and we are unable to determine how long  Ann has had PSP .  Only 6 in every 100,000 people world wide have been diagnosed with PSP.      Alan (our Dad) has been staying home with her ,  helping her with everything ,  he wants to spend every moment with his wife of 40 years .  With Ann's disabilities ,  we would use with the donations to help her be able to stay in her home, and help pay for medical expenses .  Any donation helps big or small ,  if unable to donate please pray for our family ,  we all need as many prayers as we can  get ,  especially  our Mom and Dad.                                                                                          Thank you from the bottom of our hearts ,  Love Ann's daughters.                                                                                 Welcome to our CaringBridge website.
